[Updated Aug. 3 (PT)] Aim for the Top! How to Enter the TEPPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

As we announced in-game on April 2, in an effort to cooperate with Japan’s efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the TEPPEN team has made some adjustments to our workflow structure as we continue to improve the game.
During this time, we have been considering how to proceed with hosting the TEPPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2020 (WC2020).

As a result, we have decided to make several changes to the methods of entering the TEPPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2020.
 

Changes to Entry Methods

 
We will continue to post updates regarding WC2020 on a regular basis.

WC2020, the tournament that determines who will be crowned the best player in the world, is a goal not only for our players, but for the TEPPEN team as well.

We had hoped to bring you an experience just as exciting as last year’s, and we deeply regret that circumstances have forced us to make these changes.

Though our schedule may change from our initial plans, we hope to continue bringing entertainment to the world in line with our corporate philosophy of delivering “Deliver joy and wonder”, even as we adapt to a new lifestyle alongside COVID-19.

The tournament that determines who will be crowned the best player in the world, the highest TEPPEN tournament; the TEPPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2020 (WC2020)!

Following last year’s TEPPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 which awarded the winner a staggering ¥50,000,000, this year will also present amazing prizes to the victor!

Here’s how you can gain an entry to WC2020!

*Details about when WC2020 will take place and what prizes will be awarded will be released on a later date via News in-game and the official site.

The Three Ways to Enter

Method 1: Be one of the players with the most accumulated Tour Points (across all regions).

The top 16 players who accumulate the most Tour Points from each designated event will be awarded an entry to WC2020.

■ The Main Designated Events
・Each monthly Ranked Match from January to September 2020.
*Although you may receive Tour Points from Ranked Matches from October 2020 onwards, they will not count towards receiving an entry to WC2020.

Compared to the other methods, this one spans over many months and requires steady, diligent effort.

*Accumulated Tour Points are not limited to just your region and include all users from each region.
*There may be events that reward Tour Points in the future.
*Users who have already received an entry to WC2020 through different means and end up within the top ranks will not be counted.
*In the case of ties in Tour Points, different factors will determine the final ranking such as the highest place achieved in previous Ranked Matches.
*Tour Points are reset in the following year. Tour Points earned in 2020 will not be counted when trying to obtain an entry from the year 2021 onward.
 

Method 2: Place well in the in-game tournament Online Region CUP (per region.)

Top ranked players of the in-game Online Region CUP will be awarded an entry to WC2020.

■ The Online Region CUP
An in-game accessible tournament that is broken up between each region where players face off against each other and compete for rankings.

・Scheduled Date: Planned for August 2020
・Scheduled Time: All-Day matches separated for each region (1 day matches.)
・Applicable Regions: Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Japan
・Available Entries: 3 entries to the top players across 4 regions; 12 entries total.
 
This method requires you to participate in the Online Region CUP and face-off against players within your region.

*The details on the date of the Online Region CUP and its rules will be released on a later date via News in-game and the official site.
*In order to participate in the Online Region CUP, you must signup previously in game during the signup period. If the TEPPEN app is not distributed in your country, you will not be able to participate in the Online Region CUP.
*Users who have already received an entry to WC2020 through different means and end up within the top ranks will not be counted.
 

Method 3: Place well in designated tournaments.

Entries to the WC2020 will be awarded to players who place high enough (a prize winner or the victor) in designated tournaments held in 2020.
*Details about when these designated tournaments will take place as well as their rules will be released on a later date via News in-game and the official site.

This method requires you to endure against players who absolutely cannot lose and do well in the designated tournaments.

*Users who have already received an entry to WC2020 through different means and end up within the top ranks will not be counted.
*There may be qualifiers in order to qualify to participate in these designated tournaments.
